RSCM Peterborough and Northampton is part of the Royal School of Church Music. The RSCM is an educational Christian charity enabling the best use of music in worship, church life, and community. The RSCM has over 7000 active members and affiliates, is an open, life-long learning organisation with involvement from people of all ages committed to enabling singing, encouraging choirs, nurturing skills, and developing understanding.
The RSCM's mission is to enable the best use of music in Christian worship, church life, and in the wider community, and to support members through practical and applied programmes of education and training, music-making at festivals and courses and music and training resources information, advice and guidance. RSCM membership is available both to organisations and individuals. Information on how to join the RSCM can be found on the main RSCM website.
Locally the RSCM is run through a network of committees. These are based on geographical location, centred around Anglican Cathedrals. The Peterborough and Northampton Area comprises Peterborough, Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Oundle, Wellingborough, Brackley. The local committee organises an annual programme of events across the area for choirs, organists, choir trainers and singers of all ages and experience.
The Bronze (Dean's) and Silver (Bishop’s) Singing Awards scheme is open to singers of all ages. These awards build up personal singing confidence, increases musical knowledge and singing progress and gives useful experience to help enhance your own and other's singing ministry. Through this scheme many choristers have been encouraged and rewarded for their skill, talent and commitment. Further details and information on how to apply can be found in the Awards section.
